Obtaining the Spell
Minimum Blue Mage Level Needed To Acquire Spell: Level 54
Dimensional Death is best hunted in Fei'Yin.

This spell can be safely soloed with no issues when you can learn it at 54.

Bringing sneak and invisible items or spells may be needful to reach camp.

Shadow Hunting Grounds Camp #1
Name Level Location
Shadow (BLM, RNG, THF, WAR) 44-46 Fei'Yin

The Best place to hunt Shadow class mobs is in Fei'Yin. Once you Zone in, head to just outside the small round room at J-10. This will be your first camp.

In this, and each of the other small round rooms circled in red on the map above, two or three shadows will wander. Carefully pull one out of the room to your safe camp in the hall. The ones with Great Swords will link, so take care with pulling them. They are also BLM class and will cast. Remember to put some distance between your fight and the other shadows in the room, as to avoid low HP aggro, if your fight is difficult.

Don't be shy about hitting the Shadows as hard as you can with a real weapon or spells. Shadows hit hard for the level they are, and you don't want to be slugging it out with them too long. Since they only have one TP move, you will always see your spell. You should have no problems killing them.

Shadow Hunting Grounds Camp #2
Name Level Location
Shade 46-48 Eldieme Necropolis
Ka 52-54 Eldieme Necropolis
Dark Stalker 57-59 Eldieme Necropolis
Spriggan 64-66 Eldieme Necropolis

The Eldieme Necropolis is a so-so camp. In each of the red circled areas above, two or three Shadow class monsters of different types will spawn. They will differ in type by room.

The big problem with this camp is that there is a lot of other undead aggro near the spawn points. If you drop into the yellow health wise, you may see some serious aggro. Also, the silly gates can make it impossible to get to all the spawns. While Fei'Yin is a longer walk, it's much less annoying then here.

If you do choose to fight here, you should have no problems with the lower level mobs.

Shadow Hunting Grounds Camp #3
Name Level Location
Doppelganger Dio 23-25 Outer Horutoto Ruins
Doppelganger Gog 23-25 Outer Horutoto Ruins

Proceed to the Lilac tower located at H-3 in East Sarutabaruta.

There are two NM shadows that spawn in the Outer Horutoto Ruins, that are very easy to solo with no risk, at the point when you can learn the spell.

The spawn conditions are as follows: Once every eight minutes there will be a spawn of a Balloon (low level bomb), one of the two Shadow NM, or the NM Bomb King in one of the three locations marked on the map above.

Keep killing the Balloons until a Shadow NM pops, and then using a very low damage weapon, feed it TP until it uses the spell on you. Take care, the NM only has about 750 hp, so it's very easy to kill. You may need to use the 'turn and let it hit you' method to allow it to build TP. Happily as they only have the one spell, you'll see it easily.

There is no aggro or risk here at all. The down side is that it can often take a very long time to get a Shadow to pop. So if you plan to try this camp, be ready to put in an hour or more.

Special notes about the spell a Blue Mage may like to know
Can I solo it? Yes. You should have no problems by level 54 in camp #1 if you are careful.
Do I need any special items? No, A but warp item to save you a long walk home is nice. You may need invisibility and sneak potions if you go to a deeper camp.
Do Shadows like to use the move? They only have Dimensional Death as a TP move, they will spam it.
The spell deals Hand-to-Hand type blunt damage.
Dimensional Death can be paired with either of the following spells to create the Accuracy Bonus Trait: Frenetic Rip, or Disseverment.
